LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
Our client is the premier provider of innovative email defense solutions that ensure email protection from junk email ("spam"), viruses, worms, malicious content, and other harmful email threats for enterprises, service providers, government organizations, and resellers and their customers. They are currently seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator for their Systems Administration group.
The System Administrator position is responsible for installation, maintenance, and configuration of Linux systems as well as management of a Cisco-based IP network. This includes telephone support and remote troubleshooting with the field technical team and customers.
There is strong potential for growth into a Team Lead role for the right person. Outstanding flexible work environment where cultural fit is as important as technical ability.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years Linux and/or Unix system administration experience.
- Solid knowledge of operating system internals.
- Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to understand complex dependency relationships.
- Experience with common Linux and/or Unix systems administration tools.
- Experience with Linux-based Apache, Postgres, and OpenLDAP.
- Working experience with at least one scripting language; Perl and Shell preferred.
- Experience with Cisco switches, routers, and IOS a plus.
- Experience with network and Linux security.
- Strong knowledge of SMTP, HTTP, SQL, LDAP, and related protocols.
- Postgres database administration experience preferred.
- Certifications backed by experience in Linux administration, security, database administration, and networking a plus.
- Ability and willingness to carry a pager and participate in on-call rotation.
- Service-based attitude with a focus on preserving the customer experience.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Team Lead, supervisory, or managerial experience a plus.
